What Showcase means in the catalog

Showcase has 198 printings. Of those, 174 are alternate-art, signature or overnumbered cards (88%). So in the catalog, Showcase is mostly the home of variants. Read alternate art, signature and overnumbered cards for each.

Promo is a rarity too

Promo cards carry their own rarity label rather than Common to Epic. They come from the small promotional sets described in the promo sets guide, which is where the Metal cards are.

Rarity is only part of the price

  • A variant of a Rare can cost more than a standard Epic. Variant and finish often matter more than rarity.
  • Playability and demand move prices as well, which is why the most valuable printing in a rarity can be far above its median.
  • Foil adds a multiple on top of any rarity: see foil versus normal prices.

How these numbers are calculated

Every figure on this page is calculated when the site is built, from the public RiftHunt card catalog and the daily TCGplayer price estimates published through the RiftHunt API. A printing’s headline price is its normal market price, otherwise its foil market price, otherwise its lowest listing. Medians are used instead of averages so a few expensive cards do not distort the result. Prices are estimates for typical copies, not offers to buy or sell. RIFT SCAN is an unofficial fan project; see about RIFT SCAN, or look up any card in the set lists.

Common questions

What are the Riftbound rarities?

Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Showcase and Promo appear in the catalog. The table above counts the printings of each.

What is a Showcase card?

In the catalog most Showcase printings are alternate-art, signature or overnumbered cards. See alternate art cards.

Is a higher rarity always more expensive?

Not always. Variant, finish and demand often outweigh rarity, so a variant of a lower rarity can cost more than a standard card of a higher one.
