Printings and prices by card type

Every printing in the catalog carries one card type. The table counts printings, not unique cards, so a card that exists in a standard and an alternate-art version is counted twice. The median is calculated over printings that have a TCGplayer price.

Using card type when you collect

  • Card type is a good filter when you are looking for one printing among thousands. The set pages group each set’s cards by type.
  • Types differ widely in how many printings exist, so the median price of a type says little about any one card.
  • Variants such as signature cards are often printed for specific card types, so check the type when comparing prices.

How these numbers are calculated

Every figure on this page is calculated when the site is built, from the public RiftHunt card catalog and the daily TCGplayer price estimates published through the RiftHunt API. A printing’s headline price is its normal market price, otherwise its foil market price, otherwise its lowest listing. Medians are used instead of averages so a few expensive cards do not distort the result. Prices are estimates for typical copies, not offers to buy or sell. RIFT SCAN is an unofficial fan project; see about RIFT SCAN, or look up any card in the set lists.

Common questions

What are the Riftbound card types?

The catalog uses Legend, Unit, Spell, Gear, Rune and Battlefield. The table above shows how many printings of each exist and what they cost.

Which card type has the most cards?

Units are the largest group in the catalog; the table above gives the exact count.

Does card type affect price?

It correlates with it, because the types have different median prices, but rarity, variant and finish usually matter more. See rarities explained.
